About Karlo Santos

My name is Karlo Santos and I am currently a senior at Old Dominion University majoring in Information Technology.  After I graduate, I plan to go into the workforce as I try to find a job related to my major.  This ePortfolio will showcase all my previous projects that I have done related to Information Technology.

My Story

Since graduating from high school in 2008, I have been bouncing around going to Tidewater Community College for six years and working at Camp Allen and Oceana Galleys for three years. After I decided to quit Oceana Galley, I decided to go back to school and apply to Old Dominion University, where I would major in Information Technology. Before I could get admitted to ODU, I had to fulfill some college courses at TCC to save some money.

Since returning to school in 2019, all this hard work has paid off. I finally completed most of my classes at TCC and successfully transferred to ODU in the fall of 2021. Fast-forward to the fall semester of 2024, and I am one step closer to graduating as soon as Spring 2025. Even though I have neither participated in any clubs nor worked during my time here at ODU, I have said to myself that academics are extremely important to me.

I believe 5 to 10 years from now, I see myself trying to apply for a NASCAR job since that sport has been my passion since I was a young child.  I just brought up NASCAR since this sport is all about Engineering and my major in Information Technology will allow me to work with computers all the time whenever I work with a race team down in Charlotte, NC.  After I am done with COMM 305, I still have only one semester to go. I will start applying to any NASCAR job of my team whether it is an hour away from Richmond Raceway or just stay in Virginia if I do not have the money to move closer to the Richmond area.  My reflection of the overall class is that COMM 305 will teach me a lot of things about how to be marketable and knock on the employer’s door knowing that I will be ready from day one when they hire me.

These are some of the points I have made about my life balancing work and school knowing that it takes hard work to build relationships with every new employee or student you meet up with.
