Final Blog Post Reflection (COMM 372T)

My favorite COMM 372T assignment was the Instagram Analysis assignment because I got to do a media curation project on Hailie Deegan since NASCAR is my favorite sport.  This 372T assignment was delightful since I could be myself, relate my academic experience, and explain to my audience what celebrities do to get a big following in many social media applications.  It is certainly my honor to do these types of projects throughout the semester that getting to do things like media curations can make me look at videos and pictures closely.  This COMM 372T assignment shows that I have a passion for NASCAR and that social media plays a big part in this sport.  This media curation was my favorite COMM 372T assignment to do this semester. 

Since taking this COMM 372T class, I have changed the way I engage with media because it makes me look under a microscope in the sense that social media is an important part of our lives.  The things that I learned in this class can relate to my dream job since social media also is part of growing as an individual.  This social media journey has made me engage with those who enjoy watching my YouTube content as I develop a community with my peers.  Specifically, I think engaging with social media is important in developing relationships with people face-to-face as well.  Hopefully, I can apply some things from this COMM 372T class and be able to learn the rules of social media in the future. 

After completing my COMM 372T ePortfolio this semester, some of the ways that I think have improved my professional online presence was learning the rules and etiquette of social media.  I also learned about the dos and don'ts of what to post on social media.  Meanwhile, having a social media online presence professionally can help you network with other peers who probably had the same college major as you.  Social media can be much more enjoyable if you learn a few basic habits of what social media can make you stand out from the crowd.  This is why having a social media presence is important to engage with the people who live near you locally so that you can hang out with them once in a while. 

Some advice that I would give to future students about potential uses of the COMM ePortfolio might be to be themselves while at the same time having fun making a Facebook or YouTube profile to start making new friends.  This will pay off in the long run as it can help you look for jobs that match your hobbies and interests.  It will certainly open doors to a path that you would never have imagined sooner than later.  Some things that I learned in the COMM 372T class will help you at work or home.  Eventually, future students who take this COMM 372T class will know that taking a social media course throughout your college career will help both ways as engaging with new people can be a fun experience knowing that a sense of belonging in a social circle is what everybody strives for.
